Consider the following points when planning your refurbishment.
- The space you have – it is necessary to provide a minimum of 11 cubic metres for each person permanently occupying a workplace
- The number of people that will be using the workplace
- What you will be using the workplace for, e.g. data processing, drawing plans, building models etc.
- What furniture you need to carry out your task effectively
- The location of natural light, this may be important
- Escape routes and health and safety requirements
- The level of noise, for example, you may want to consider locating a call centre with high noise levels away from quieter areas of the office
- Do not allow trailing leads to create tripping hazards, look for desks with cable management systems
