Helping you Choose a Printer
There are two types of print technology for printers and below is some information on both to try and help you decide which you require to do the best job for you.
Inkjet
Inkjet printers are designed for small groups of people with low usage. They are more compact in
design and will only hold approximately 100 sheets of paper. They generally cost much less than the laser printers but the consumables [link to toner page can be high.
If you are looking to output photographs some inkjet printers now have the function to print directly from your digital camera or direct from the media card. This means that you do not need a computer. If you are looking to print photographs look for a printer with high dpi . The dpi is the number of drops of ink which can fit into a square inch of paper so the higher the dpi the better the quality of print.
Laser
Laser printers are more expensive to buy but the running costs are cheaper. These p
rinters are more economical for large volume use. If you want to print large volumes of pages cheaply then a laser is the best choice. They also have much larger paper handling and more stable input trays are able to hold 250 to 500 sheets of paper and dedicated output trays.
Both inkjet and laser come in mono and colour and therefore you need to think about what documents you will be printing before making your decision. Again we have a good range of printers but if you need any help and assistance choosing please do not hesitate to contact us. Please remember when you do buy a printer you don’t generally get the cable for connection so you will need to buy either a USB cable or a parallel cable.
